About IWM Duxford

Located on the grounds of a historic former RAF fighter station, IWM Duxford is Europe's largest air museum. Its historical significance is deeply rooted in its role as a key base during the Battle of Britain, and it was the first station to receive the Supermarine Spitfire. Today, visitors can explore the preserved wartime hangars and walk the same airfield used by service personnel throughout the 20th century.

The museum's collection is extensive, housing nearly 200 aircraft, military vehicles, and naval vessels across several large exhibition halls. The AirSpace hangar features iconic British and Commonwealth aircraft, including an Avro Lancaster and a Concorde. In the American Air Museum, you will find a notable collection of US military aircraft, from a B-17 Flying Fortress to the SR-71 Blackbird.

Beyond the static exhibits, Duxford is an active airfield. Historic aircraft are a common sight in the skies above, and the museum regularly hosts flying days and large-scale air shows. The site also contains the Land Warfare Hall and exhibits that detail the operational history of the airfield and the stories of the people who served there.
